go tell it beyond the mountain

May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us;

establish the work of our hands for us–yes, establish the work of our hands.

~ Psalm 90:17 ~

I often pray for God’s favor to rest upon me.

I know His favor never leaves me. There are times, though, when God covers me with a special kind of favor that I can actually see and touch and feel.

I received a concussion during a car accident in May. The doctor reassured me that with plenty of rest I would likely recover. Meanwhile, I trudged around in a fog, people seemed a million miles away and everything exhausted me. The long list of summer projects I’d compiled would have to wait. To get better, I had to rest.

Here’s what I do to relax: reading, writing, listening to music, working in the garden and talking with friends.

He is with you

If you’ve ever seen Mandisa in person, you’ve seen a woman who is beautifully alive and fully engaged in every song she sings!

I love this reminder that God is with me. There are times we go through things that we don’t understand and they’re so hard to accept. Sometimes, knowing that God is with us through it all is all we have to cling to…when the morning hasn’t come just yet.

Is He with you?   Or have you been hiding from Him?

The rims of the tires had worn unevenly, splitting like a horse’s hooves, poorly tended. The wagon-bed, covered with a powdery layer of dirt and little chips of who-knows-what, vibrated as she wandered the streets of our little town. The sound of it hummed out her imminent arrival and rattled on, long after she passed out of sight.

She was a fascination to all of us who watched her from a distance.  Continue reading

white-knuckle writing

crocus-3-09When I was talking to my sister last night, she mentioned that she’d been checking the blog to see what was new…and found that…there was nothing new.  She pointed out the irony of the title of my last post:  waiting.   =)

I appreciate all of you who have been checking back for a new post…I am honored that you find your way here again and again.  It gives me great pleasure to write pieces that lift your spirits, make you think, encourage you…or just provide a nice diversion from a hectic day.

Since you last heard from me, I have been on a journey.  And along this journey, which has been a much needed one at that, I have been going through an “accelerated” learning and growing time. (Did I hear a “Yikes!” from someone out there who’s been through an accelerated learning and growing experience or two?)  So, while I haven’t posted here, I have been doing a lot of thinking and writing, which are pretty much synonymous for me.
